Habits of Self Confidence

The need for one to cultivate Habits of Self Confidence can never be overstated! More often a lack of self-confidence, or a feeling of inadequacy, will stop you from doing something really awesome only to turn around and see others doing that thing and thriving? More often than not, we are actually on the right path. We just allow doubt and fear to confuse us.

For a lot of people, this feeling of inadequacy stopped us from

  • Putting ourselves into uncomfortable social situations where we might make new friends or start dating
  • Starting a new business, creating a book or art, putting our ideas out there into the world
  • Sticking to a new exercise, diet or meditation habit because we messed up once and somehow convince ourselves that we can’t do it, right?
  • Learning something new and amazing, like a new skill, because we might embarrass ourselves

we’ve experienced all of these at some point in my life, and I know many people who know this lack of self-confidence and feeling of inadequacy very well. It can plague all areas of our lives.

It’s about becoming aware of our old mental patterns that sabotage our happiness, social life, habits and more. Here are 5 quick tips to help us overcome those self-doubts:

Groom yourself.

This seems like such an obvious one, but it’s amazing how much of a difference a shave and a conscious effort to smell good can make in your feelings of self-confidence and for your self-image. (Click here for amazing perfumes at the best prices)

Dress nicely

A corollary of the first item above … if you dress nicely, you’ll feel good about yourself. You’ll feel successful and presentable and ready to tackle the world. It doesn’t necessarily mean wearing the most expensive outfit but could mean casual clothes that are nice looking and presentable.

Photoshop your self-image.

Our self-image means so much to us, more than we often realize. We have a mental picture of ourselves, and it determines how confident we are in ourselves. But this picture isn’t fixed and immutable. You can change it. Use your mental Photoshopping skills, and work on your self-image. If it’s not a very good one, change it. Figure out why you see yourself that way and find a way to fix it.

Think positive.

One of the best things you can learn is how to quickly replace negative thoughts with positive ones. How can you actually change my thoughts, and by doing so make great things happened? With this tiny little skill, you will testify how better you get at things. Positive thoughts create positive energy. Seriously. Try it if you haven’t.

Get to know yourself.

When going into battle, the wisest general learns to know his enemy very, very well. You can’t defeat the enemy without knowing him. And when you’re trying to overcome a negative self-image and replace it with self-confidence, your enemy is yourself. Get to know yourself well. Start listening to your thoughts. Start writing a journal about yourself, and about the thoughts you have about yourself, and analyzing why you have such negative thoughts. And then think about the good things about yourself, the things you can do well, the things you like. Start thinking about your limitations, and whether they’re real limitations or just ones you’ve allowed to be placed there, artificially. Dig deep within yourself, and you’ll come out (eventually) with even greater self-confidence.

Remember, Motivation is what gets you started, Habits are what keeps you going. Build this healthy habit.
