5 Tips To Help You Succeed At Your New Year Goals

We were all in the New Year’s euphoria 30 days ago. We all set goals, some quarterly, others monthly, and made New Year’s resolutions. Remember how I promised to ask you how far you’d come in a month? So, how far, my friend?

Are you making any progress towards your new year goals and resolutions? If you aren’t, you need to make a move because, let’s face it, time flies when you’re having fun.

Here are five tips to help you achieve everything you set out to do this year.

Set realistic goals; start small

It is fine to dream big, but it is best to start small. Do not go from not going to the gym to establishing a 7-day-a-week gym schedule. When there is a plan of action, it is much easier to achieve anything. Break down your goals into small steps and develop a strategy that includes ‘how’ you intend to carry out your plans.

Alter one behaviour at a time

Over time, unhealthy behaviours might become ingrained. Therefore, substituting good behaviours with unhealthy ones takes time. Don’t feel overburdened or like you need to re-evaluate your entire life. Instead, focus on bringing about one change at a time.

Analyze your results

Being explicit, accurate, and specific about your time frames is a need for setting quantifiable goals. Setting time-bound goals is something I strongly advise because it frequently gives you an extra push to finish what you start.

Applaud yourself for baby steps

The road to achieving your goals may leave you exhausted and worn out. It is natural to lose motivation along the way. This, however, should not deter you. Don’t wait until you’ve won to applaud yourself. Encourage yourself even if no one else does, and give yourself a high five for each accomplishment.

Keep a positive mindset

Change can be challenging at first, but it gets easier along the way. For example, you will experience soreness after your first day/week of working out. Concentrating on the pain will prevent you from working out but when you keep a positive mindset, you’ll see yourself breaking boundaries.
