Habits are behaviours that people do regularly, often without thinking much about them. They are formed through repetition; once established, they can be challenging to change. However, with conscious effort and consistency, it’s possible to build new habits or break old ones.
Habits can be good or bad and play a significant role in shaping our daily lives.
Good habits might include brushing your teeth every morning, exercising regularly, or reading before bed.
Now, let’s look at some bad habits that you need to drop.
- Stop studying in bed. Your bed is made for sleeping; it is your comfort place. Try finding a new environment other than your bed to study in, and you’ll be most likely to get more work done.
- Stop scrolling aimlessly through your social media accounts if they are not beneficial to you. You are wasting precious time that could be channelled to something much more productive.
- Stop drinking, smoking and doing drugs.
- Avoid watching porn.
- Stop letting people take advantage of your kindness.
- Start learning how to say “no.”
- Avoid leaving your deadlines till the last minute.
- Stop ‘forgetting’ to take your make-up off before going to sleep.
- Avoid looking at your phone before going to sleep.
- Avoid sleeping late.
- Stop doubting yourself.
- Stop surrounding yourself with negative people.
- Stop gossiping.
- Stop slandering.
- Don’t stick your nose in other people’s business.
- Stop telling people more than they need to know.
- Don’t lie because you’re afraid to hurt the other person’s feelings. Speak the truth.
- Don’t skip meals.
- Stop snacking when you’re not hungry.
- Stop overspending and start saving money.
- Try to avoid watching too much TV.
- Start using your time wisely.
- Stop forgetting to wear sunscreen before stepping out.
- Stop pondering about the past and start focusing on the present.
- Stop procrastinating.

Do not try to stop all your bad habits in a day. Rome was not built in a day. Take one step at a time, one day after another, and in no time, you will rule off one habit at a time, replacing it with good ones.
