Over half of the teams, 23 countries to be precise, have qualified for the Russia 2018 World Cup and are already assured of their place alongside the hosts at the next World Cup. These teams will definitely feature in the December draw for the competition that is set to hold in Russia next summer.
The hosts qualified automatically when FIFA awarded them the opportunity to host the competition back in December 2010. It’s an automatic something.
They qualified way back in March 28, 2017 when they won the CONMEBOL.

Group C winners. Sealed their spot at Russia after defeating Northern Ireland in Belfast. Tipped as a favorite to win the World Cup.
Winners of Group F. Gareth Southgate’s men beat Slovenia to secure their spot in Russia.
Poland became the 4th European team to qualify even though they had a rough start after dropping points in two games in Group E.
Qualified from the Confederation of North, Central American and Caribbean Association Football. They reached their fourth World Cup finals with a game remaining.
Can we get the drum roll please? Nigeria became the first African side to reach Russia and have now missed just one World Cup tournament – Germany 2006 – since first qualifying 1994. Tipped as the team to fear from Africa at Russia 2018.
Qualified for their first World Cup finals since 1990, all thanks to Mohamed Salah who scored twice to send the North Africans to Russia.
These guys sure do know how to make an entry. After tipping the scales at the last Euros by beating a star-studded England side and knocking them out of the competition, they have qualified for their first ever World Cup and they just had to do it with some drama by beating Croatia to a guaranteed place in Russia.
Qualified as winners of Group B
The 2008 winners qualified as Group G winners finishing five points ahead of Italy.
Qualified as winners of Group A. With a young star-studded team, this team is also tipped as a team that will go far in Russia, as far as going all the way.
The Portuguese team beat Switzerland in their final qualification game to reach next summer’s finals at Russia.
Reached their first World Cup after beating Costa Rica in the final game in the qualification race.
The Argentine team qualified with their last qualification game all thanks to Lionel Messi who scored a hat-trick.
Finished second to Brazil in their group to secure their place in the finals.
Took the fourth and final automatic qualification spot in the South American group.
