Hot Dog Fried Rice
Cooking can be fun especially when you get to try a different variety of dishes. After all, it’s said that variety is the spice of life and this also applies to food as well.
Fried rice is a dish of cooked rice that has been stir-fried in a wok or a frying pan and is usually mixed with other ingredients such as eggs, vegetables, seafood, or meat. It is often eaten by itself or with another dish. Fried rice is a popular component of East, Southeast and certain South Asian cuisines which has spread across other parts of the continents. As a homemade dish, fried rice is typically made with ingredients left over from other dishes, leading to countless variations. Many popular varieties of fried rice have their own specific list of ingredients, for example, the hot dog fried rice.

1 tbsp. butter
1/2 Onion, finely chopped
3 medium carrots, peeled and diced
2 hot dogs, sliced into coins and halved
1 Garlic clove, minced
1 tbsp. sesame oil
2 1/2 c. cooked white rice
2 eggs, lightly beaten
2/3 c. frozen peas
2 tbsp. soy sauce
1 scallion, thinly sliced
i. Melt butter in a large skillet over medium heat.
ii. Add onions, carrots, and hot dogs and cook until onions become translucent for 3-5 minutes.
iii. Add garlic and cook until fragrant, about 1 minute.
iv. Add sesame oil to the pan and let heat for 1 minute.
v. Add the rice, and let cook for 3 minutes.
vi. Push rice to one side of the pan and add the eggs, scrambling them in the pan and incorporating them into the rice when they are fully cooked.
vii. Add the peas and the soy sauce and stir to combine.
viii. Top with scallions and serve (optional).
