The hustle and bustle of Christmas has settled, and the world feels just a little quieter. December 27th is that sweet spot between the festive rush and the anticipation of the New Year. It’s the perfect day to breathe and reflect, cherishing the little things.
For me, this day has always been about lingering in the glow of the holidays. I love catching up with family, replying to WhatsApp greetings I might have missed, and flipping through photos of Christmas Day—those candid moments of joy my phone camera could capture, like the one of SiSi in her Christmas gown or the group selfie where everyone is mid-laugh.
One year, my cousin Uche and I spent December 27th building a puzzle together. It was one of those thousand-piece monstrosities; by the end of the day, we were still missing two pieces. But the laughter, the shared snacks, and the gentle teasing made it one of my favorite holiday memories.

Today is also a time to think about Gratitude (And we have a lot to be grateful for). Gratitude for the love of family and friends, for the roof over our heads, and for the little joys that make life beautiful. Our going out and coming in, all the holiday travels. Maybe it’s for the different foods we got to eat or how your favorite song played just when you needed it. Those moments are the real treasures.
As we inch closer to the New Year, let’s carry this gratitude forward. Let’s promise to hold onto these little joys and to spread kindness wherever we go. And remember, even as the decorations come down and life returns to its usual rhythm, the love and memories of the season stay with us.
